Since coming to SL, like so many others before I've been inspired by what I've seen and who I've met. I always sketch in my head what a place sounds like to me; other people make photo albums, I put musical portraits in a little collection.
So we come to Caledon Sketches, a five minute suite of quickly assembled noise mongering, aural impressions of my early wanderings in Caledon, now my home.

1. The Cavorite Mines, Caledon Moors One of the first places I visited, and one of the first places I got stuck in a tiny room and couldn't get out. The mine was dark, weird, and smelled bad. Strange things had happened here in the past. And I think strange things still happen inside there...
2. Amphitheatre, Caledon Primverness After flying along the coast and taking a walk through the open, rugged hills, I came upon this place with a beautiful grand piano (now not there), right at the edge of the ocean.
3. The Forrest, Caledon Tanglewood It was late at night the first time I visited. Moderately spooky, I was quietly walking when I saw my first SL tinies. They were walking and having (I thought) an animated discussion, as played by the woodwinds.
4. Ordinal Enterprises, Caledon I was walking down a lane, and saw puffs of smoke (and imagined gunfire); I had stumbled onto the work of Ordinal Malaprop, one of the very first people I met in Caledon. It was also my first real introduction to the steampunk aesthetic, and I haven't looked back, so I have a debt to Ordinal to settle. Fire at will...
5. Port of Caledon A flying jaunt on a sunny morning landed me in the Port, right at the docksides. I had already been charmed, but this was one of the last nails in the coffin, and a happy jig kicked up in my head.
I can't think of a better place to tip my hat to Desmond Shang, who continues to impress me with his wit, imagination, and sheer stamina. I also should thank all the incredible talents who have contributed to the various Caledon builds, both the artists who coordinated large projects and all the individual citizens. Taken as a whole, it is a striking achievement. I'm so happy to be spending some of my time up in SteamSkyCity.
